Well that sure is friendly. Why the bite? I'm not saying that it's the "only feature" that'll "save it" (it really doesn't look like it's needs saving), just that saying "hey, you can change the size of boobies" will boost it up by a *lot*. Sex sells.

The game is already great. I like great games because they are fun to play.

Its funny that on the AoC forums, the main reason why most people dont like the game is because it is too hard and you cant point and click to move.

That just screams to me 'this game is great, this game is great, this game is great'.

"Every little reason to put the game down"? I'm not degrading it for the breast-size feature, I'm *praising* it. WoW is not without it's problems, WAR will not be without it's problems, AoC will not be without it's problems. The *only* reason I will lean towards WAR is because it's Warhammer and it will be less straining on my computer on high settings. But aside from that I'm not overly excited about it, nor for any other game really.

I am very interested in how AoC will do (remember me saying that I hope it does well? It is a popular setting, after all). I would like trying it, but I've already given my reasons for being "turned off" per se. It doesn't mean it will be a terrible game, just that I won't buy it at the time.

You think that nudity in a game is a selling point. I disagreed.

Oblivion and the Sims had nudity mods. I dont think that people bought these games just to see naked computer characters on their screen.

The reason why there is nudity in AoC is because the developers are firmly following the lore of the books, which I admire them doing in the world of 'Moms against everything' today.

And they arent scared of losing players by doing this. They want the game to reflect the world of Conan, and it seems to have done this perfectly.

But anyway, in game nudity, high computer requirements (in your opinion), and the game has recieved far more Pre release interest then any other MMORPG to date. I cant wait to see a game that can outdo AoC, thisis going to be a huge challenge to every other MMORPG game developers out there today.

Not a major selling point, but a selling point nonetheless. I think the introduction of a couple sex scenes in Mass Effect (where both could be lesbian sex scenes, no less) helped the sales of it somewhat - not a lot, but somewhat.

(My first post wasn't entirely serious, by the way. And I wasn't even talking about the nudity, but the breast-size feature.)

Bhavv, untwist your pants Bryant hasn't said anything flammatory there. In fact I'd go as far as to say I agree, adjustable boobies will go down a storm. Even with us women. In fact I'm rather pleased to see I can finally play a female character who doesn't look like she'd snap in half if you kidney punched her.

Have you even read the amount of arguments raging about people asking for a 'nipple toggle' ?

Never bought the game, and I wouldnt do just because it has sex scenes in it, and I dont think there is anyone that would buy a game just for the nudity.

Sex sells. It's undeniable. It helped God of War, it helped Mass Effect, and - while it's slight - it *will* help AoC.

You're greatly underestimating the male gamer demographic. I'm from the US, after all.

Yes, and just as that has proved, the nudity puts *MORE* people off from buying a game then it attracts more buyers.

More people dont actually like the nudity in games, it isnt a selling point, it actually decreases the number of people that would want to buy the game (proof on all the nudity toggle threads).

Nudity isnt a selling point for games, and it isnt a reason for why more people are interested in AoC.

I assume all this is about the 2nd spot after WoW? AoC is expected to settle at about 500K a couple of months after release, and if it does well go upto 750K subscribers next year.

It can't compete in quantity against games that are designed for a broader market at all. But its good to see developers go for quality.

Funny that, because out of the however many millions of people vaunted to be signing up... only just over 200 signed the nipple toggle petition. Not really putting that many people off is it? There's certainly a sight more pro-boob posts on the forums than there is anti.

I agree with this, but also, AoC is looking to snap up a huge number of players by the look of this:

Quote:
And more than 5 million unique visitors to the official Age of Conan website in 2008.

Funcom and Eidos are proud to confirm some of the impressive figures powering the Age of Conan launch, and the two companies are happy to reveal that the Age of Conan Beta has passed 1 million sign-ups! As one of the most anticipated MMO’s ever, the 1 million mark confirms the amazing interest in the game.

“Funcom has not been able to find any higher beta numbers for MMOs in the western world,” said Morten Larssen, VP of Funcom Sales and Marketing. “We believe it represents the largest ever beta sign-up figure in the history of the genre.”
http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthr...22#post2043622

1 million people sign ups for the beta, over 5 million visitors to the AoC page. I wouldnt be surprised to see 1 million players in the first month.

It's kind of like the gamble AoC is taking with higher-end graphics, and it's actually inversely similar to WAR's lower-end graphics. May appeal to some, will oppose to others. And I will say with great confidence that many more people would be in support of nudity rather than opposed.

Yes I know that there are few people actually against it, but the people that are buying the game (like me and you) are not buying it because of the nudity.

If the nudity was removed from AoC, I would still be buying it. Therefore, I still disagree that nudity is a selling point.

However, I wouldnt buy it if they changed the combat system to point and click, or if they reduced the graphics quality. These are bigger selling points then nudity is.

Lets try and keep this flame free, yeah?

The AoC forum is bad enough.

I suggestdefragging if you haven't already. My AoC file was very fragmented.

It's a subjective selling point, and it would not be something to appeal to every single player. Just because you yourself would not buy AoC because of the nudity does not mean no one will.

How big of a selling point is debatable. I'm simply saying that it would most likely nudge the sales up rather than down. That's a good thing.

To be honest, the game in my opinion doesnt have actual nudity as there is no genitalia in the game. I dont see revealing the upper body as nudity. They should have had genitals in the game as well, wouldnt affect me at all, but I would have loved to see the outrage if they had done that

Its just that society determines that breasts = Nude, but a shirtless man isnt nude. I dont get that.

Yeh, but they're funny.

Hadn't thought of defragging, I'll have a look, thanks.
